Honoring Veterans Day
On Veterans Day, we honor those who have
served in the United States Armed Forces.

On Sunday, November 11, we will observe Veterans Day. This national holiday is an important reminder to thank our veterans for their service. We are grateful to the brave men and women who have protected our country with honor.

Veterans Day is also our opportunity to reflect on the organizations that support the U.S. military. For more than 150 years, the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) has provided programs and services to military members and their families. This non-profit organization is a national member association of the YMCA of the USA and operates more than 200 service centers nationwide, along with seven sites abroad.

Each November, the ASYMCA celebrates Military Family Month to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of U.S. military members and their families. On Wednesday, November 14, the ASYMCA will also launch its annual Art & Essay Contest for military children. This contest is open to children of U.S. active duty or retired service members and allows them to express their experiences as children of military families. You can learn more about the Art & Essay Contest here.

As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the ASYMCA is funded fully by private donations and receives no funding from the U.S. government. With hundreds of thousands of service members deployed overseas, recognizing the daily sacrifices made by military families has never been more important.
