John PreisJohn M. Preis

President and CEO

John M. Preis became president and chief executive officer of the YMCA Retirement Fund in 2000.

Before joining the Fund, he was associate dean for Finance and Administration at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business. Before that, John worked for the YMCA for 17 years.

He started his YMCA career at the Flushing YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Greater New York, then served as vice president of Finance at the YMCA of Greater New Haven. Following this role, he became the vice president of Finance and Personnel at the YMCA of Metropolitan Hartford in Connecticut and senior vice president and chief financial officer of the YMCA of Greater New York. John also served on the advisory council of the Financial Accounting Standards Board.

He serves on the boards of directors of the Church Benefits Association and the Church Alliance. In addition, he served on the board of directors of the Armed Services YMCA — a special YMCA for our military.

John holds an MBA in finance from Hofstra University, and a BS in economics from Quinnipiac University, where he served on the advisory board of the School of Business.     

Hunter ReisnerHunter S. Reisner

Chief Investment Officer

Hunter S. Reisner has been with the Fund since 2010. He has led several investment teams and organizations over his 35+ years in the investment business. His investment experience spans most asset classes, including domestic and international public and private equity, as well as public and private debt and alternative investments.

Hunter has invested on behalf of endowments, pension funds, insurance companies, and fund-of-funds, as well as family offices and high-net-worth individuals. Previously, Hunter founded and served as managing partner of Citigroup Private Equity (formerly Travelers Investment Group Alternative Investments), which grew to manage over $10 billion of proprietary and client capital. His prior investment affiliations also include Morgan Stanley, Butler Capital, ACI Capital, Salomon Brothers, and Smith Barney.

Hunter has held seats on the investment committees, advisory boards, and boards of directors of over 20 investment funds and companies. He currently serves on the investment committee of a foundation and a university-related endowment.

He earned a BA in economics and mathematics from Yale University, where he graduated summa cum laude, and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.         

Vanessa BoulousVanessa A. Boulous

Chief Operations Officer—External

Vanessa A. Boulous works to maximize the Fund’s relationship with the YMCA Movement, acting as a representative of the Fund and advancing its mission in all Y circles. She oversees the Fund’s Y Relations, Client Relationship Management, Customer Service, and Marketing departments, who serve three primary constituent groups: Participants, YMCAs, and Retirees.

Vanessa, a YMCA Organizational Leader, has been with the YMCA since 1985. She started her career at the YMCA of Philadelphia and has held many leadership positions including CEO, Vice President, and Branch Executive at Ys in San Francisco and Palo Alto, CA, Flemington, NJ, and Allentown, PA. Before joining the Fund, she served as the senior consultant at the YMCA of the USA, where she managed a large consultant team serving the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states.

Vanessa holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware. In addition, she is an accredited Certified Retirement Counselor dedicated to furthering the retirement education process.

Elliott BuchholzElliott C. Buchholz

Chief Operations Officer—Internal

Elliott C. Buchholz oversees the creation and maintenance of the Fund's information systems and website. He supervises the development of applications for departments that serve participants, YMCAs, and retirees. He also provides leadership for the Fund’s Administrative Services, Document Imaging, and Human Resources departments.

Previously, Elliott was director of Medical Management Systems at Prudential Healthcare, director of MIS for HIP Health Plan of New Jersey, and applications development manager for AT&T.

He holds a BA in English from Rutgers University, as well as an associate degree in computer science.

Vin De SioVincent M. De Sio

Chief Financial Officer

Vincent M. De Sio provides leadership for the Fund’s financial and regulatory reporting functions, He is also responsible for all financial management at the Fund except for investment management.

Before joining the Fund, Vince worked at the World Gold Council as director of Finance and Administration for North and South America.

He is a U.S. Navy Veteran and holds a BA with a dual major in accounting and economics from Queens College, City University of New York as well as an MBA from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. In addition, he earned the designation of Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) from the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

James KirschnerJames G. Kirschner

Chief Strategy Officer

James G. Kirschner works with the Fund’s Trustees and Senior Management to formulate and track long-term strategies and ensure that current objectives support the Fund's Mission, Vision, Values, and Guiding Principles. He is responsible for tracking and analyzing constituent statistics and survey results with an overall focus on providing data for decision-making.

James provides staff support to the Fund's Trustees in the areas of governance and board development. He earned the designation of Governance Fellow from the National Association of Corporate Directors.

He also serves as the Fund's advisor to YMCA Alumni.

James, a YMCA Organizational Leader, began his YMCA career in New York City in 1984 and held senior management roles at both the branch and association levels of the YMCA of Greater New York. Before joining the Fund in 2003, he was the principal in his own consulting practice, focusing on strategic management and leadership issues. He has been an adjunct professor at the graduate level at Columbia University, Adelphi University, and Springfield College.

He earned a BA in economics at Trinity College and an MBA at Columbia Business School. He is a Certified Retirement Counselor.

John QuinonesJohn Quiñones

General Counsel

John Quiñones is the Fund’s chief legal officer. He is also responsible for the activities of the Internal Audit Department.

Before joining the Fund, John was a partner at an international law firm, where he counseled public and private corporations, financial service companies, asset managers, and private investment funds on general corporate matters, corporate and real estate finance transactions, and investments in securities and real estate. John also served as managing counsel at TIAA-CREF.

He holds a BS from Cornell University, a JD from New York University School of Law, and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Marcela DeitrichMarcela Deitrich

Senior Vice President - Customer Service & Marketing

Marcela Deitrich provides strategy and leadership to the Fund’s Customer Service and Marketing departments.

Before joining the Fund, she served as customer service manager at PromptCare and AXA Financial in New Jersey, as well as at New York Life Insurance Company in New York City.

Marcela earned an MBA from the New York University's Stern School of Business with a specialization in leadership, marketing, and global business. She also holds a certificate in strategy from Columbia Business School. Before business school, she completed a BA in political science at St. Peter’s University.

Lisa WorthyLisa Worthy

Senior Vice President - Finance

Lisa Worthy directs the accounting practices, procedures, and maintenance of all financial records. She also supervises the preparation of all financial reports and is responsible for financial operating control functions.

Before joining the Fund, she was senior supervising auditor with KPMG LLP.

Lisa is a certified public accountant and member of the NY State Society of Public Accountants. She also volunteers with the Industrial Areas Foundation, Manhattan College Alumni Committee and Queens Citizens Organization. Lisa is a YMCA Organizational Leader and holds a BA in accounting from Manhattan College.

Liz DelgadoElizabeth Delgado

Vice President - Human Resources

Elizabeth Delgado directs salary and benefits administration, and provides support and guidance in hiring and staff development. Liz is responsible for payroll processing, personnel record maintenance, Human Resource budget forecasting and employee benefits.

She comes to the Fund with experience as the office manager for an import/export firm in New York.

Liz holds a BS in business management from New Jersey City University.

Elizabeth KurillaElizabeth A. Kurilla

Vice President - Internal Audit

Elizabeth Kurilla provides leadership and supervision for the overall management and focus of the internal audit department. Her responsibilities include evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, controlling and performing Investment Manager operational reviews, and ensuring that Investment Managers have an appropriate control environment and conform with industry best practices.

Before joining the Fund, she was a senior manager in the Audit and Enterprise Risk Services group of Deloitte & Touche LLP and an auditor in the Audit and Assurance Practice group of CohnReznick.

Elizabeth received her BS in accounting cum laude from Fairleigh Dickinson and a certificate in Portfolio Management from New York University. She is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Maureen HaleyMaureen Haley

Vice President - Applications Development

Maureen Haley provides leadership and oversight for the Fund’s development teams, including the coordination, implementation and support of the Fund’s various back-office systems, web sites, mobile application and reports.

Before joining the Fund, Maureen held a number of senior-level technology roles, including a consultant position with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She spent the majority of her career with Fidelity Investments in Boston, Massachusetts.

Maureen holds an MS degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University. She also earned a BA degree in Computer Information Systems from Suffolk University.

Kerri Hayes 

Kerri R. Hayes

Senior Counsel

Kerri R. Hayes is responsible for all legal aspects of the Fund’s investments, including reviewing and negotiating various agreements and documents for both traditional and alternative investments. She also provides counseling on the design, implementation and operation of the Fund’s retirement plans and ensures compliance with ERISA and Internal Revenue Code requirements.

Before joining the Fund in 2011, Kerri was an associate with Proskauer Rose where she counseled clients about employee benefits and executive compensation, including the investment of plan assets, the implementation of employee benefit plans, and employee benefit issues related to corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Kerri earned a BA in political science from the College of the Holy Cross and a JD from Fordham University School of Law.
