John M. Preis

President and CEO

John M. Preis became president and chief executive officer of the YMCA Retirement Fund in 2000. Prior to joining the Fund, he was associate dean of Finance and Administration at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business. Before that, John worked for the YMCA for 17 years. He started his YMCA career at the Flushing YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Greater New York, then moved on to the YMCA of Greater New Haven where he served as vice president of Finance. He then became the vice president of Finance and Personnel at the YMCA of Metropolitan Hartford in Connecticut and senior vice president and chief financial officer of the YMCA of Greater New York. John served on the advisory council of the Financial Accounting Standards Board. He currently develops financial management training modules for the YMCA of the USA. He serves on the boards of directors of the Church Benefits Association and the Church Alliance. In addition, he served on the board of directors of the Armed Services YMCA—a special YMCA serving our military. John earned an MBA in finance from Hofstra University, and a BS in economics from Quinnipiac University, where he served on the advisory board of the School of Business.


Hunter S. Reisner

Chief Investment Officer

Hunter S. Reisner has been with the Fund since 2010. He has led several investment teams and organizations over his 30+ years in the investment business. His investment experience spans most asset classes, including domestic and international public and private equity, as well as public and private debt and many types of alternatives. Hunter has invested on behalf of endowments, pension funds, insurance companies and fund-of-funds, as well as family offices and high net worth individuals. Previously, Hunter founded and served as managing partner of Citigroup Private Equity (formerly Travelers Investment Group Alternative Investments) which grew to manage over $10 billion of proprietary and client capital. His prior investment affiliations also include Morgan Stanley, Butler Capital, ACI Capital, Salomon Brothers and Smith Barney. Hunter has held seats on the investment committees, advisory boards, and boards of directors of over 20 investment funds and companies, including two university-related endowments. Hunter earned a BA in economics and mathematics from Yale University, where he graduated summa cum laude, and an MBA from Stanford University.


Vanessa A. Boulous

Chief Operations Officer—External

Vanessa A. Boulous works to maximize the Fund’s relationship with the YMCA Movement, acting as a representative of the Fund and advancing its mission in all Y circles. She provides oversight to the Fund’s Y Relations, Client Relationship Management, Customer Service and Marketing departments that serve three primary constituent groups: Participants, Retirees and YMCAs. In addition, she is a Certified Retirement Counselor dedicated to furthering the retirement education process. Vanessa, a YMCA Organizational Leader, has been with the YMCA since 1985. She started her career at the YMCA of Philadelphia and has held many leadership positions including CEO, vice president and branch executive at Y’s in San Francisco & Palo Alto, CA; Flemington, NJ; and Allentown, PA. Prior to joining the Fund, she served as the senior consultant at the YMCA of the USA where she managed a large consultant team serving the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states. Vanessa earned a BS in sports & recreation administration from the University of Delaware.


Elliott Buchholz

Chief Operations Officer—Internal

Elliott C. Buchholz oversees the creation and maintenance of the Fund's information systems and website, and the development of applications for the departments that serve Participants, Retirees and YMCAs. He also provides leadership for the Fund’s Administrative Services, Document Imaging and Human Resources departments. Previously, Elliott was director of Medical Management Systems at Prudential Healthcare, director of MIS for HIP Health Plan of New Jersey, and applications development manager for AT&T. He earned a BA in english from Rutgers University.


Vincent M. De Sio

Chief Financial Officer

Vincent M. De Sio provides leadership for the Fund’s financial and regulatory reporting functions and is responsible for all financial management at the Fund except for investment management. He is also responsible for the activities of the Internal Audit Department. Prior to joining the Fund, Vince worked at the World Gold Council as the Director of Finance and Administration for North and South America. He is a US Navy Veteran and holds a BA with a dual major in accounting and economics from Queens College, City University of New York as well as an MBA from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. In addition, he earned the designation of Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) from the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

James Kirschner

James G. Kirschner

Chief Strategy Officer

James G. Kirschner works with the Fund’s Trustees and Senior Management to formulate and track long-term strategies and to ensure that current objectives are in support of the Fund's Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles. He is responsible for tracking and analyzing constituent statistics and survey results within an overall focus on providing data for decision-making. James provides staff support to the Fund's Trustees in the areas of governance and board development. He earned the designation of Governance Fellow from the National Association of Corporate Directors. He also serves as the Fund's staff liaison to AYR, the Association of YMCA Retirees. James, a YMCA Organizational Leader, began his YMCA career in New York City in 1984 and held senior management roles at both the branch and association level of the YMCA of Greater New York. Prior to joining the Fund in 2003, he was the principal in his own consulting practice, focusing on strategic management and leadership issues. He has been an adjunct professor at the graduate level at Columbia University, Adelphi University, and Springfield College. James earned a BA in economics at Trinity College and an MBA at Columbia Business School. He is a Certified Retirement Counselor.


John Quiñones

General Counsel

John Quiñones is the Fund’s chief legal officer. Prior to joining the Fund, John was a partner at an international law firm, where he counseled public and private corporations, financial service companies, asset managers and private investment funds with regards to general corporate matters, corporate and real estate finance transactions, and investments in securities and real estate. John also served as managing counsel at TIAA-CREF. He earned a BS in industrial & labor relations from Cornell University and a JD from New York University School of Law.


Marcela Deitrich

Vice President - Customer Service & Marketing

Marcela Deitrich provides leadership and supervision to the Fund’s Customer Service and Marketing departments. She is responsible for all of the Fund’s communications, marketing initiatives and customer interaction with its three primary constituent groups: Participants, Retirees and YMCAs. Prior to joining the Fund, she served as customer service manager at PromptCare and AXA Financial in New Jersey, and New York Life Insurance Company in New York City. Marcela earned a BA in political science from St. Peter's University and an MBA from the New York University's Stern School of Business.


Elizabeth Delgado

Vice President - Human Resources

Elizabeth Delgado directs salary and benefits administration, and provides support and guidance in hiring and staff development. Liz is responsible for payroll processing, personnel record maintenance, Human Resource budget forecasting and employee benefits. She comes to the Fund with experience as office manager for an import/export firm in New York. Liz holds a BS in Business Management from New Jersey City University.


Elizabeth A. Kurilla

Vice President - Internal Audit

Elizabeth A. Kurilla provides leadership and supervision for the overall management and focus of the internal audit department. Her responsibilities include evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control and performing Investment Manager operational reviews, and ensuring Investment Managers have an appropriate control environment and are in conformity with industry best practices. Prior to joining the Fund, she was a senior manager in the Audit and Enterprise Risk Services group of Deloitte & Touche LLP and an auditor in the Audit and Assurance Practice group of CohnReznick. Elizabeth earned a BS in accounting cum laude from Fairleigh Dickinson and a certificate in Portfolio Management from New York University. She is a certified public accountant and member of the American Institute of CPAs, New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Internal Auditors.


Lisa Worthy

Vice President - Controller

Lisa Worthy directs the accounting practices, procedures and maintenance of all financial records, as well as the preparation of all financial reports and is responsible for the financial operating control functions. Prior to joining the Fund, she was senior supervising auditor with KPMG LLP. Lisa is a certified public accountant and member of the NY State Society of Public Accountants. She also volunteers with the Industrial Areas Foundation, Manhattan College Alumni Committee and Queens Citizens Organization. A YMCA Organizational Leader, she earned a BA in accounting from Manhattan College.
